Acer Palmatum ‘Bloodgood’

The japanese maples are looking splendid this spring, so fresh and vibrant and one of my many favourites is this one. Its rich burgundy foliage keeps its colour till autumn far better than almost any other that I have met and then it turns scarlet as the picture shows. It also gets masses of red winged seeds to add to the effect in summer.

It is a fairly vigorous clone and will make a small spreading tree to 4 or 5 metres. The display plant at the nursery is in full sun and never gets watered and has come though some torrid summer weather over the last few years. I have 1.5 metre plants in 10″ pots for $68.50Acer palmatum 'Bloodgood'
