The hardiest of its Genus the coral tree adds quite a touch of the exotic to any garden with its thick spine covered branches and brilliant red pea flowers during the warmer months.
The trifoliate leaves are also telling in the garden, and it will grow well in full sun in any well drained site. Once established with a bit of a woody trunk the frosts will do little if any long term harm.
It should be pruned back each year to the permanent trunk which you decide on regarding height as a young plant and mine is in a perennial border so thew trunk is less than a metre and the new stems each year add another 2metres.
I have well grown plants ready for the ground in 25cm. pots at $32.50
