One of the highlights of spring has to be the Pearl Bush (Exochorda) with its pearl like flower buds opening to a mass of pure white blossom. It is a hardy deciduous shrub to 3 or 4 metres that is cold hardy and sun tolerant and will in fact grow well in almost any sunny aspect in the cooler parts of Australia as long as it isn’t in a wet site. Some have drowned over the last 2 years of wet weather that were fine through the drought. Leaves go soft yellow in autumn. I have lots in 8″ pots at the moment at $28.50 and a large shrub along the nursery drive way that is alway a picture through October.
