I first raised this plant from one seed obtained from New Zealand many years ago. It is a small deciduous tree from China, and what an asset it has turned out to be.
Its narrow grey green leaves turn brilliant red in autumn and in time it will make a shrubby upright tree to about 4 or 5metres tall, with sinuous trunks covered with smooth bark.
Plant it in a morning sun aspect sheltered from the hot winds and hopefully you will end up with a plant that no one else will know and then will ask you what it is!
