Nerine pudica

Nerine pudicaThis small South African autumn flowering bulb is apparently rare in the wild and yet I find it a good doer that multiplies well for me at the nursery. It is in flower in April each year and grows about 25cms. tall with white flowers striped pink on the outside of the petals. It seems happy in sun or semi-shade and unlike many of this Genus seems happier if the bulb is just covered.

It is also easy as a pot plant so consider it as a feature in an ornamental pot on the BBQ. table for those last of the season alfresco events. I have flowering plants in 4″ pots for $10 a great price for an endangered species!
