The Mexican pine has to be one of the most elegant species that you could grow as a specimen tree in a fair sized lawn and it is cold hardy (at least in Australia) and heat and drought tolerant as well. It will quickly grow to 20metres or so and its tassel like needles hanging from pale branches are so lovely. If you don’t believe me visit the one in the Melbourne Botanic Gardens and you will see what I mean.
I have nice young trees in 20cm. pots at the moment for $39.50 that in only a few years will be making a serious statement in your garden.
